“Melting was one of my practice projects at Columbia University, and even now, I can still remember every detail vividly. The creative environment at that time was filled with curiosity and experimentation — everything felt fresh and honest. To me, this short film was not just an exercise in directing and storytelling, but also a quiet observation and expression of my own emotions.

We had very limited resources and simple shooting conditions, yet that limitation brought a sense of pure passion to the process. From developing the script to shooting on set, I was learning how to let images carry delicate emotions and subtle shifts within. Looking back, the film might still feel a bit raw, but its sincerity and my hunger for creation are what I value most.

Melting was, in many ways, a beginning — a reminder of why I make films, and that every story starts from a single, honest impulse to express something real.”
