呢喃河

Dir. Jiamin Zhao, Prod. Roku Long, China, In Post-Production

In Lianzhou, a rainy southern region of China, nestled around a small-town art museum, two women cross paths at a photography exhibition, forming a fleeting connection that shapes and reproduces their desires in ways beyond their perception.

"This summer, we returned to the rainy southern region of China, where, nestled around a small-town art museum, we crafted a story about two female strangers—delving into themes of the fragility of human connections, and the projection of self.

‘Conversation Among the Ruins’ / 呢喃河 stands as the most significant project of my three-year collaboration with Jazmin Zhao. This poetic work, imbued with a profound sense of loss and solitude, is slated to meet audiences next year.

Humanity has long been ensnared in the endless quest for self-discovery— Like a river, it seems to promise an escape, flowing endlessly toward the horizon; yet it remains a cyclical trap, pulling us back into its depths time and again.
