ROKU LONG

Yan is working on her thesis dissertation and chooses Lynne, a Chinese-American student she teaches, as the subject of her study on identity. As their lessons progress, Yan notices Lynne’s deep fascination with the Chinese language and culture—an obsession that clashes with Yan’s own disillusionment with her hometown. After Yan breaks down under pressure and Lynne uncovers her role in Yan's research, their lessons are on the verge of ending. However, Yan gradually rediscovers the forgotten beauty of her hometown, hidden beneath the veil of her own discontent.​
